Media

Here is a bunch of stuff I did over my break. I got lazy and I should have posted each page right after finishing it so I would be more willing to discuss what went into them...but whatever.

*Edit: Alright I have to write something. So the bottom one here I attempted to paint a portrait of Charlie Murphy but it ended up looking like Dede from Friday. Then I attempted to paint a picture of Zach Hill holding a garbage bag of drumsticks. That was harder than I thought it would be! As you can probably tell by it's unfinished state. But I don't like working too long when I'm painting stuff like that unless I'm still into it after I started the idea. Which wasn't the case I suppose...

So above that there is a page of some Avatar: The Last Airbender studies mixed in with some doo-doo sketches from my head. All done with markers and ink.

Next there are some more reference-less sketches of some girls and skulls and stuff. I tried to do some weird marker blending on that page.

Above that, I was studying this gun catalog called Cheaper Than Dirt and writing some of their fancy descriptions. It made me think of inventories or stores from R.P.G.s and stuff.

Then there is an acrylic painting of my dog, Homie. He has a weird shaped head and it is hard to capture those forms from the front.

Above that, a couple of marker sketches I did while I was at Last Friday in June.

Then there is an ink/watercolor "Master Sloppy" of Leonardo's David. Yeah I know, big head mode...

Finally we have lots of Scott Pilgrim inspired comic characters and dialogue bubbles, some quick graff sketches and water color portraits using random magazines as reference. Phew! See? I knew there was a lot to say about this post...

Covah Ups 2

Yo. I worked on the self portrait a bit more and I painted a couple more guns. I ended up using some cool color schemes for those. I also found an old small canvas behind the couch ha. It is the mountain/tree looking thing. Then there is that weird abstract piece. I feel like painting and stuff like this is good, but I want to mess around with some more mediums. Different types of markers or something. Maybe I just need to break more of my own rules. EVOLUTION!

Paintin' Pages

Yo, there is a pencil sketch I did. I was trying to get back to the way I used to do it. No guidelines, just draw a line and then see what it could be for a second, then finish the drawing. Before I went to the school I used to always draw whatever I thought of, but it was a symbolic style most of the time. So I guess it is good to be versatile at drawing realistically or cartoony or whatever. Anyway, I did a few Bruce Lee paintings in my sketchbook. Also, some made up face, and a crappy Andre the Giant sketch that I started and then didn't really feel like doing about 30 seconds later. Then I have another gun from a magazine. I feel like I learn a lot about what I draw if I am in the right mind state. Observing the way that muscles change in motion and how simple shapes can be used to make up anything, especially when it comes to the cars and guns. But these are also viable options for careers. Designing cars and guns, or cars with guns is useful to somebody. The military is always paying for killing gear. You would be like Iron Man. Haha alright this is way off topic. Peace.

Gouache?

I thought it was something fancy but it is so much like acrylic paint. Here are a couple watered acrylic and gouache paintings I did today in my sketchbook. Billy Corgan, a handgun, and one of the guitarists from Slipknot. Also there is a Dave Chappelle in acrylic on canvas from a few weeks back...Word. I haven't been doing pencil or charcoal for these, just going for it by eye with the brush. But I did attempt Chappelle in Photoshop first, so that is the exception.
