DEMO REELS?!

Everybody has been working on their demo reels and it has a been a while since I have even looked at mine so I decided to post it somewhere so people could check it out. This is the one I remember showing Ken and Dennis for the 8th Quarter review. It has changed a bit since then but I think this one is alright so far...Needs to be more specialized and I have a lot of new stuff to add.

Oldie But Goodie

Yo these are old but I never posted them and I still think they are cool. There was one I made for Sharee but I didn't have a camera when I made it so I don't have a picture of that one...Then there is that Mouseguard piece. Sloppy...but fun...and I recall doing FAR FAR WORSE with chalk pastels when I was in high school. I need to try out some different kinds because I remember Kevin said the Rembrandt pastels are expensive but they work more like a piece of charcoal.

Yes We CAN

Rudy did most of the frog. I did the other little messes. The Frog and Spiderman are from yesterday but the door and afrobird are a few months older.

...and that!

Did this in May 2010. Pow!

Bla-Dow!

A long time friend asked me to take one of my sketchbook pages and paint it larger and onto canvas. It was weird because the original is 5x7 and the canvas is like 16x20 so a lot of spaces that were quick and easy to cover with a large brush because areas that I needed to layer with the light yellow. Simple brush stroked mixes of green became these huge areas and bigger paint piles. I've done this kind of stuff before and it makes me think of making music demos...trying to redo a song so it will "sound better". But sometimes the demo just has something special to it and it could be impossible to recreate the same essence.

Fancy Dance Instrumental

I have always wondered if I should post guitar videos or music stuff on here...so whatever. I sort of feel like I'm breaking rules, but I also feel like I have broken down the barriers and have begun to realize how to integrate my life into itself.

Superu

Yo here is some dope shit. I just felt like painting whatever last night so I picked up my Afro Samurai dvd sitting right there and started mixing. After that I went digging into my References folder where I just save random images I like or plan to paint someday and I decided to use a promo desktop background for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World as my reference. It is the weird purplish haired girl. The character's name is Ramona Flowers. In the movie I think she is played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. I like the way it turned out but I did NOT capture that hair color...you're going to have to find the original yourself. After that I used another random shot of just some chick's legs. Then I googled observations and Paul Cezanne's piece with the skull was one of the first to come up, so I decided to try to copy those strokes/colors since my homie Rick recommended such a task as a good exercise. For the big finale, you get a pepper from a photo and a drunken marker sketch of our family friend Garen haha. Oh yeah, I have also been posting a couple of guitar videos on youtube if you give a fuck maybe you could try and find me.

75 Posts Whoop Dee Damn Doo Doo

Marker stuff from the time Jon and I went hiking into this waterfall cave at Red Rock. A self portrait done in Photoshop. Random sketches of characters and people colored later on with random marker colors. PEACE!

Hearts Filled With Passion

I did these last night while I was watching Cowboy Bebop. I used pictures from Anatomy for the Artist. I tried not to take too much time and I only have so many colors that I feel like trying to mix. So there wasn't too much effort in there but I was sort of thinking how I do with markers. Sometimes I just have three or four and I have to think creatively.

Hiatus

So it has been a while. I have been doing a lot of 3d animation this quarter so I only have so much time to sketch. But here is some stuff I have done lately. I painted over a couple pages in my sketchbook to make it cooler and I posted some sketches that I did while waiting at the fantastic D.M.V. Later on when I went home I colored them and now I think they look pretty slick. I stopped by a park I used to hang out at when I was younger and I drew a sketch of some stuff for like ten minutes. Then a couple weeks ago I attempted to do another self portrait using Photoshop. It didn't turn out that great and I was planning on trying to finish it but oh well.
