Life Drawing Workshop October 27, 2010

I used ink and colored pencil for the first time. It was fun and it kept me very excited about the drawings. And hanging out for Kevin's Drawing & Anatomy was a great refresher for the torso which is one of the toughest masses to truly master, for me anyways...So I definitely brought some different approaches to this session. The workshop was dope. The model brought a couple of costumes to wear and it is always good to practice the clothed figure.

SKETCHBOOK BATTLE!!

Yo. I took pics of a bunch of my pages that I have done so far for the Blackbook Beatdown, son! Peep that! Gangsta typin' right now for no reason.

G Minor

G MINOR by dmtspeck
I did this a couple weeks ago but I just put it onto cd then onto the computer and did all that fancy conversion-ness to get it onto soundcloud and the blog. SO enjoy. IN OTHER NEWS...the digi-recorder has this plastic scrolling piece...and it is now dysfunctional which practically renders the device USELESS as there is NO WAY to perform certain actions such as audio scrubbing, scrolling easily through tracks, SELECTING VIRTUAL TRACKS FOR MIXING(!!!!HUGE!!!) and lots of other stuff. SO...GIANT SAD FACE.

Time Well Spent

What's up?! I chilled in the Anatomy class yesterday, then I went to a couple hours of the workshop afterwords. It allowed me to draw in many different mind states. Everything from warming up and feeling all rusty, drawing while casually talking, getting silently into the zone, feeling like I suck ass, deliriously making sloppy lines to experimenting and possibly getting lucky...

So I was hoping you all could help me out and tell me which pose YOU like best! And oh yeah...I posted something I did in my sketchbook for fun the other day...

Oh and just so you know, there is one drawing in ink that Sheff did to help me out on a pose! Thanks Sheff!

I also uploaded some stuff from my Designing Comics class with Jerry Miller. He is an awesome teacher. Very professional and serious but he gives super helpful critiques and he isn't boring! There are also a couple pages from my sketchbook that I am still working on.

KA-BLAMMO!!

Here's how my pages are looking for the sketchbook battle so far. Some random sketching, a Basil Gogos master copy, a landscape of a photo I took, a bunch of equipment and this dude Arthur Lake who was around in the Zephyr days of Dogtown. I had to tape in a piece of paper to finish the deck on this one. I touched up the page with Bruce a little bit so I took another shot. I still have space to fill on the one with the guy and the lamp post. I wanted it to be observations only...but anyway...the requirement is 50 and I've almost got a good five going after the first week. FULL STEAM AHEAD!
