Catching Up
Yo! Here is a compressed music-less version of my 3dfx final. Just a can kick, it was fun trying to figure out the dynamics though. The lighting could be better but Rocky hinted that I should just create a new project on my own time that shows off what I've learned and takes it to another level for my demo reel. Carin's birthday was on the 27th so I painted this picture of her cat on a little canvas. I think the canvas is like 5x7 or something, but the whole thing is gouache and I was inspired by that weird dude that Rick showed me, Josh George. Anyway, I've got lots of work to do! Paintings to finish, animations to complete, pictures to take and drawings to scan. You know how it is, I hope.

Transitions
These are old paintings but I decided to try and edit them since I discovered the W.I.P. shots on my computer.

Wax On & On
Weeks ago I started a painting of Lyn-Z from Mindless Self Indulgence, well I finally went and put some more polish on that shit and now I consider it done. Then spontaneously I started a piece of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez from The Mars Volta and I liked how it was looking so I just stopped. Maybe I will composite a transition piece of it later if I have the time. Peace!
Catch A Bad One
Drawing & Anatomy Week 11. The quiz was tough and the critique was long and enduring. There were few survivors. But we were rewarded with 30 minutes of cool poses from a fun and sexy model. She was even pursing her lips for two-minute poses and she did this cool thing where she froze a stabbing motion, which allowed us to draw from a very natural movement ref. I'm not too proud of some of the drawings, but even the bad ones are worth doing.
Mona Lisa Master Copy Transition Test
Yo. I took some doodoo pictures with my camera while I was painting layers onto the Mona Lisa Master Copy. I decided I would try to present that in a cooler way than just posting them for you to scroll up and down to see. So I attempted to composite them together with one of my songs. Every time I rendered it I would watch it and hate something and have to re-tweak it. Then I was trying to figure out how to get the file size down. That H.264 is dope. Well, check it out.

No Style & No-Style
Finally! I scanned in some of the pages I have finished recently in my sketchbook. I have a couple from the second Drink & Draw of the Hot Sauce Gang, and some sketches I did at school, home, Buffalo Wild Wing's and Hamada Japan over the last few weeks haha. Now I need to figure out how I should simplify this stuff to post onto the Hot Sauce Gang's blog.

"And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." Frederich Nietzsche
Here are my drawings from the Week 10 Life Drawing Workshop. I mentioned something to Arnel about never using conte and Kevin let me try some of his out for a bit. He called it creamy and it is man it's just soft and smooth. I need to get some more materials again haha. So I also posted the four figure project again after trying to touch up some parts. Still having trouble man, damn...But can you believe that I still have other art I need to post? Jeez, some of it will be lost in "the abyss" hence the Nietzsche quote. "Whatever dude! So cliche!" Yup. Fuck off.
*Edit: I posted another pic of The Warriors piece because I tried to make some small changes and I taped some colored paper behind their vests and skin to see how it would show through the thin, marker paper. It is super subtle but whatever, experiments are good. It was also pretty well received during the final critique. It wasn't the best, and I think I could do better if I started the same project over, but why do that? I will just continue on with the lessons the "battle" has taught me.
Traditional Stylings Boi!
Drawing & Anatomy Week 10 - practice for the final: placing four poses in perspective as a new composition, after some warm-ups of course. I also posted some concept sketches for the actual final project. After creating a pile of good reference films, I decided to go with a shot from The Warriors but then on Saturday I got tons of good advice from Kevin I tried to apply which I will post later. I think it still needs work but sometimes you just have to start over to really take it to the next level when you're blending and erasing because the paper just gets worn with marks and turns to shit but I don't know if I have the time for that right now.
